S.F. 1 (SPECIAL FAM)
Very high mechanical, strength aIIoy. (Base:
copper, aluminium, manganese, iron). WelI-proven material with different mechanical
characteristic according to requirements of use.
SpeciaI Fam (S.F 1): highly ductile with great tensile strength equal to that of a normal
sfteel, weldable, easy to machine, slightly magnetic, wear and corrosion resistant.
Suitable for use in mechanics for gears, bearings, wear parts such as sliding blocks,
jibs, worm screws etc., propellers for fast boats. This alloys, characterised by high
resilience, is used in guide bushings.
Is furnished to the customers in castings to pattern with minimum machining (wood-metal)
or to polystyrene foam pattern with normal machining ahlowance. Molding and casting in
sand and die, with hardness values between 200 and 280 HB, according to customer
requirements.
Special Fam (S.F. 1) can be forged if required.
S.F. (SUPER FAM)
Alloy with high hardness potential (260 - 360 HB and
above) obtained by aligning professional expertise to technological development, making it
possible to use additives in precise proportions togheter with refining agents designed to
obtain optimum grain sizes. In mechanics Super FAM is used for pump rotors, cams, guide
bushings, wear jibs and other parts subject to high pressure and heavy wear.
Use of Super Fam is increasingly requested in the construction of dies in generai; it is
now indispensable for pressing of stainless steel or Nimonic sheets.
This is to be ascribed to its characteristics of flowability, anti-friction, very low
friction; all to be attributed to the fact that Super Fam acquires hardness during initial
running in until it takes on a mirror-finish surfuce that leaves the thickness of the
pressed plate unchanged without stretching scratches, tears or puchers.
Super Fam is, therefore, suitable for deep drawing dies, die insert, slides and guideways
as all machine parts that require high resistance to wear and compression.
Super Fam can be tapped with special tools. Our technical service puts its experience at
the disposal of the customers, proposing solutions able to facilitate the work of the
operator during turning, drilling, tapping and milling. However, it is advisable to clamp
Super Fam parts using ring-nuts after mounting the Super Fam in a flanged support (forced
assembly). No special oils are required during machining: any oil is sufficient in view of
the mirror finish of the surface.
This bochure is designed to enhance knowledge of ouri Special Fam (S.F. 1] and Super Fam
(SF) already employed by the most demanding and qualified constructors of dies, machine
tools and steel mill equipment where we live up to the trust placed in our company,
combining fast supplies with weII-entrenched product quality attractive
cost-effectiveness, not to be underestimated considering the costs of such products.
The values indicated are the average potential of our commonly used producs.
Castings with Brinell hardness values above 300 and up to 350 provide further resistance
to wear but reduce other values such us resilìence ond eiosticity; they ore theref ore
suitobie for partkular uses.
Super Fam can be electro-erosion machined
